The entitlement row is the one that catches people. A university entitled for distance mode is not automatically entitled for online mode. They are granted separately and you have to check the one you are joining.
Which suits you
Distance suits people who prefer to work through material at their own pace, who do not want to be tied to scheduled sessions, and who can reach a centre for examinations.
Online suits people who want structure and contact — live sessions, discussion, continuous assessment — and who would find travelling to an examination centre difficult.
Neither is the more serious option. They are different teaching designs and the degree at the end is the same university's degree either way.
