The awarding body. The university that issues a distance degree is the same university, awarding under the same authority.
The standing of the qualification. Where DEB entitlement covers the programme, the degree functions as a degree — for further study, for eligibility clauses, for professional purposes.
The syllabus, in most cases. Distance programmes typically follow the university's own curriculum for that degree.

The honest summary: a distance MBA gives you the qualification and the learning; a full-time campus programme additionally sells you a cohort and a placement process. If you are already employed, the second thing may be worth much less to you than the price difference suggests.
What to do about the parts that are real
- Do not rely on a placement cell you do not have. Plan the career move yourself, in advance, and treat the qualification as one input to it.
- Build the network deliberately. Industry bodies, alumni groups and professional communities substitute for a cohort if you actually use them.
- Apply the coursework at work while you study. This is the distance student's genuine advantage and it converts into interview material a full-time student does not have.
- Be straightforward about the mode. Working while studying reads as commitment. Being evasive about it does not.
The people for whom distance study works best are not the ones who convinced themselves there is no difference. They are the ones who knew what they were not buying and arranged for it separately.

Where an employer's policy names a qualification, a DEB-entitled degree ordinarily satisfies it. Check your own organisation's written policy rather than relying on what is said informally.
